The Guysborough District Business Partnership (GDBP) is excited to announce the purchase of the former Baptist Church property located at 21 Pleasant Street in Guysborough.

This purchase is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for one of the community’s most recognizable buildings.

The long-term vision is to transform the property into a modern, mixed-use commercial building featuring attractive storefront space on the main floor designed to welcome new places to do business in the Municipality, while the second floor will provide flexible training and office space to support workforce development.

Rather than replacing the building, the goal is to modernize and restore it while preserving the character and presence that has made it a familiar landmark on Pleasant Street for over 100 years.

While funding applications are currently being pursued to support the building’s full redevelopment, the GDBP has already budgeted the funding needed to move the project into the engineering and design stage, which is expected to begin by the end of the summer of 2026.

As planning gets underway, the GDBP looks forward to sharing project updates with the community.

This investment represents another step toward growing our local economy and help enhance the Municipality’s business offerings.
