The Guysborough District Business Partnership (GDBP) is working to better understand the business and service gaps across the Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG).
Previous community planning has highlighted a desire among residents and businesses for more local products and services to support population and economic growth. This survey will help us understand where you shop, what you purchase outside the Municipality, how often and why—and what you would realistically purchase locally if it were available.
We encourage you to participate as a resident, a business owner, or someone who purchases on behalf of a business or organization. The more responses we receive, the better we can understand the needs of communities across MODG.
Your feedback will help GDBP identify business opportunities, guide business attraction efforts, strengthen connections between local businesses and suppliers, and plan for flexible commercial space—all with the goal of keeping more spending within our local economy.
The survey should take approximately 5–10 minutes to complete.

Whether you’ve been thinking about new siding, windows, doors, exterior paint, signage, or other improvements, this program can help bring those ideas to life. By investing in our businesses, we’re also investing in stronger, more welcoming communities that encourage new customers, new businesses, and future investment.
Matching grants of up to $10,000 are available to eligible commercial properties throughout the Municipality of the District of Guysborough.

Turn Your Business Idea into Reality with the GDBP Business Incubation Loan
Ready to start a new business or take your current one to the next level? The Guysborough District Business Partnership (GDBP) can help. Our Business Incubation Loan Program offers eligible entrepreneurs in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG) up to $10,000 in financing to launch or expand their business.
Loans are repayable over 24 months at a low interest rate, making it easier to invest in equipment, renovations, inventory, or other growth opportunities. Funding amounts are based on a board review of your application.
Whether you’re just getting started or looking to grow, this program is designed to give your business the boost it needs and is stackable with other forms of funding.

Municipal Requirements
Although the Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG) does not issue business permits, before going ahead with opening your business, contact should be made to the Planning and Development Officer at the Municipal Office to ensure your zoning meets with the type of business you plan to operate.
*You must also ensure that your business obtains the proper permitting from the provincial body responsible.
